The Aftershock
Hey guys, it's been a long hard year, but the strain and worry are finally over. If you don't know what I am referring to, please see my previous post here. We had court on the 8th of February for a preliminary hearing. Fortunately, we got an outcome we were happy with.
Obviously, it was a very stressful day. Court started at 0930h, but we were there at 0850h to meet our lawyer, one of the most amazing and caring human we have ever met. She had to drive from Calgary in snow to and from the courthouse. This woman changed the course of our lives. This entire case was all based on heresy and very likely could have ended the love of my life in jail for something he didn't do. It was terrifying thinking of losing one of the most important people to me all because someone lied about details of the situation. But she was able to get the charges dropped; clearly as there was no evidence; all we needed to do was sign conditions set out by the judge/crown and move on with our lives...or so we thought.
As much as we are happy, we are hurt as the other side of the case is NOT happy with the outcome understandably so, however they are set out to slander and harass us via social media and text messages. Remember, as with any story, there are always two sides. We won't stoop as low to slander and harass anyone, but we want others to stop and think for a moment about what is being said and if it makes sense in regard to Jesses' character. Remember people lie, not everything is cut and dry.
We are looking forward to moving on with our life and getting back on track financially as it was not easy to afford a lawyer, but we managed. Thank you for those who had our backs and continue to do so!! Much love to each and every one of you!!
